Bossier City Spring RV Inspection: Tires, Oil, Seams

Apr. 11 2022 News By Campers RV Center

In part one of this two-part blog series, we looked at some of the primary areas to inspect and maintain as you're readying your RV for the spring and upcoming summer period. Especially if your RV was shut down for some period of time during the colder season, but even if it wasn't, taking a few basic upkeep steps with your vehicle will ensure you're ready for the busy season.

At Campers RV Center, we offer a huge range of RVs and campers to our Bossier City, LA clients -- but also the best service department in town, where we provide everything from warranty coverage to basic seasonal inspections and many other themes. What are some of the other top areas that should be inspected for your RV this spring, whether on your own or with the help of our team? Here are several to keep in mind.

Tire Inspection

One of the most important inspections you can carry out on your RV, especially if the vehicle sat unused for several months over the winter, is a tire inspection. This means checking the tires for wear, checking the air pressure and ensuring that all of the tires are properly inflated. You don't want to be traveling down the road and have a blow-out, especially if you're far from any repair shops!

The important metric to be aware of here is psi, or pounds per square inch. As a general rule, your tires should have a psi rating that's around the same as what the vehicle manufacturer recommends. You can find this information in your vehicle's owner's manual, or on a sticker that's usually located on the driver's side door jamb.

Oil Levels

Another key maintenance task that should be carried out as part of your spring RV inspection is an oil level check. This means checking the oil levels in the engine and making sure they're within the manufacturer's recommended range. Low oil levels can cause extensive damage to your engine, so it's important to stay on top of this regular check.

Again, you'll want to consult your owner's manual or look for a sticker on the driver's side door jamb that will tell you the ideal oil level for your engine. And if you're not comfortable checking and adjusting the oil levels yourself, our Campers RV Center team would be more than happy to help out!

Seams and Sealants

Finally, it's a good idea to inspect the seams and sealants on your RV every spring, as these are often the areas that are most susceptible to damage. Look for any cracks or tears in the seams, and make sure that all of the sealants are in good condition and properly applied. If you notice any damage to the seams or sealants on your RV, our team can help you get it fixed up before your next road trip.
